We started Coffee to Code to work directly with businesses that need software built properly, without agency overheads.
I've spent fourteen years building software in Fiji, New Zealand and Australia. I've been a solo developer, a team lead who grew a team from one to six, a consultant working across several client codebases, and tech lead of a squad on a life-sciences SaaS platform.
I lead from inside the codebase. I prefer working software to long debates, and I care about tests, pipelines and the people who inherit the code.

Built a feature flag system in a Next.js portal shell, scoped by profit centre, region, company or user. Moved the shell's test suite from Jest to Vitest, and contributed to GitHub Actions workflows and automated release documentation.

Led a squad of four engineers. Set spec-first OpenAPI contract standards across the microservice estate, led the AWS SDK v2 to v3 migration across all services, and designed branch merging for parallel document authoring.

Helped move the platform from relational storage to an event-sourced architecture on DynamoDB, covering event structures, projections and testing parity with the legacy system.

Managed AWS VPC infrastructure, implemented PCI DSS and disaster recovery policies for the Fiji branch, and built automated scaling.

I'm the person who makes sure an engagement runs the way it was scoped: clear communication, meetings that happen when they're meant to, and follow-up that doesn't fall through the cracks.
I spent almost three years as a client service advisor for a New Zealand government agency, where the job was getting people a real answer rather than a hand-off. Before that I ran shifts and staffing schedules in hospitality.
At Coffee to Code I look after client relationships, scheduling, administration and compliance, so Abu can stay in the code. I also build my own small projects with AI tools, which means I can test what we build the way a non-engineer will use it.
